Dammit.
I felted my Secret Project, and it turned from a squarish thing into a butterfly.
The center felted more than the corners.
HOW this happened, I have no clue. I watched it and checked the status. All the yarn is the same type, from the same manufacturer. Different colors, but I don't think it's the colors that did it - the brown stripe of 40 rows, for example, felted to 4" high toward the edges, but 3" toward the middle.
The edges didn't felt as well, either.
So, do I:
a) toss it in the washer and get the rest of the thing to felt more?
b) cut it to a square? (I do not want to do this. SO do not want to do this)
c) wet it, get some kind of secure clamps, and block that puppy into submission.
I'm bummed about it because it was supposed to be a gift for someone, and I took forever to finish it (mostly because I had to knit it at work - where I can get maybe three rows done a day - or at home when I was tired). I even aborted the surprise and showed it to the recipient to ask for advice. He suggested clamps on a frame, which is what I was thinking.
I'm going to mull it over and work on it next week when I am more level-headed and have had time to analyze it.
